Mexico City

Mexico City is truly one of the most fascinating and incredible city's in the world and Mexico City has something for everyone choosing to vacation here. While Mexico tends to attract travelers to the beach destinations, Mexico City is often overlooked as a Mexico destination of interest.

As far as PROMESA is concerned, Mexico City should be on your "Must Visit" list, especially if you have interest in world-class museums, archeological treasures, international cuisine, incredible shopping experiences, stately mansions, colonial neighborhoods, dazzling nightlife, inviting plazas and gardens or great city parks. A bucket-list attraction for us is The National Museum of Anthropology notorious as one of the world's greatest museums, and could easily occupy a short vacation all by itself!

While undeniably huge, you should not let the size of Mexico City intimidate you; most tourists confine their visits to three or four well defined areas of the city and a few easy side trips. Depending on where you stay, many attractions will be just a short distance away and those that are not so close are in fact easily accessible.

We suggest that you take in drinks or dinner from the 45th floor of the World Trade Center, for a perspective and tip-top view of the sprawling city. "Bellini" is a world renowned revolving restaurant that offers stunning views of the whole city. If possible, get settled in before sunset, because the views are stupendous! Although Mexico is a deeply conservative country dominated by the Catholic Church, the conservative disposition is giving way with new laws and acceptance of equal rights enacted just this year. Gay life is prominent in Mexico City. The city assembly passed an initiative sanctioning same-sex unions, recognizing the same legal benefits as traditional marriages and now, anti-discrimination laws are enforced throughout the capital city. The 'Zona Rosa", named for the pink-colored cobblestones, is the center of the city's gay and lesbian scene offering unique and inviting boutique hotels, fine dining and, of course, Mexico City's most vibrant nightlife.

The gay and lesbian culture circulates around "Amberes Street" where the legendary BGay BProud Café serves café con leche to the locals stopping by to while away the afternoon over good gossip (chisme'). Take a moment to stop in and you will leave feeling like you have made friends of the locals, as they are always willing to expound on all the hidden secrets of the Zona: cabaret shows, backrooms and the best tacos in the city. Be sure to pick up a copy of 'Ser Gay" and "Homópolis" to get information on all special parties and promotions.

For some nightlife fun and ideas, check out 'Cabare-Titos' and 'Living and Lipstick'. Cabare-Titos, is owned by Mexico's most famous drag queen, and offers entertainment spiced with authentic Mexican flair, coupled with campy stage shows and sprinked with a dash of Spanish pop. Living and Lipstick is a globally inspired upscale electronic dance venue designed to rival the chic nightlife venues of Berlin, Madrid and New York.

Mexico City is host to an annual Gay Pride Parade in late June growing more spectacular each year with literally millions of participants in support from all the gay-friendly businesses and communities in and around the capital city.

Come enjoy Mexico City! We promise you won't be bored!!!!
